It's a jaw-dropping feat of ancient engineering. Historians believe the massive sandstone blocks, some weighing over 1.5 tons, were quarried from a mountain about 50 kilometers away. The most likely theory is that workers used a combination of canals, rafts, and thousands of elephants to transport all that stone. The stonework is so precise that most sections were assembled without needing any mortar.
