The official language of Armenia is Armenian. It has its own unique alphabet, which can look tricky at first but is fascinating to learn. Russian is also spoken by some people, mainly the older generation and in cities. English is becoming more popular among young people and in business or tourism. Armenian has two main dialects, Eastern and Western, with Eastern used in the country. If you’re visiting, knowing some Armenian greetings will impress locals. The language is an important part of Armenia’s rich culture and history.
