Chad has two official languages: French and Arabic. French is used in government, education, and business, while Arabic is common in trade and daily life. There are also more than 100 local languages spoken across the country. Most Chadians speak multiple languages depending on the region. English isn’t very common, but younger people in cities may know a bit. Learning basic French or Arabic phrases helps when visiting. The language variety highlights Chad’s deep cultural and regional diversity.
