The official language in Dominica is English. It’s used in schools, government, and daily life across the island. You’ll also hear a local Creole language, known as Dominican Creole French, spoken in homes and informal settings. English makes it easy for visitors to communicate almost anywhere. French influence is still strong in place names and culture. Locals often switch smoothly between English and Creole depending on the situation. The mix of languages gives Dominica its warm and colorful Caribbean vibe.
