Volleyball body strengthens ties on opening of China’s National Games

The FIVB delegation attended the opening of the 15th National Games of China on 13 November 2025, underlining its strategic cooperation with Chinese sports authorities. Meetings with senior officials from China, Hong Kong and Macao reaffirmed a commitment to expand volleyball’s reach in Asia and beyond. FIVB President Fabio Azevedo highlighted plans to grow the global volleyball movement from 800 million to 1.6 billion people by 2032. The event featured high-level competition including the men’s beach volleyball final in Hong Kong’s Victoria Park, signalling the region’s rising significance in the sport. This cooperation is viewed as an important step ahead of the 2032 Olympic Games and in strengthening Asia-Pacific sport infrastructure.
