Angola is widely known for exporting crude oil, which is the backbone of its economy. Diamonds are another major export, with Angola being one of the top producers in Africa. The country also sells refined petroleum products and natural gas. Outside the energy and mining sectors, Angola produces coffee, especially robusta varieties that are gaining renewed attention. Agriculture is expanding, with exports of timber, tropical fruits, and fish slowly increasing. The government has been investing in farming and manufacturing to reduce its dependence on oil. Even so, energy and diamonds remain the big names in Angola’s export profile.
