How did Millard Fillmore rise from poverty to the presidency?

Fillmore’s story is basically the classic “from nothing to something” path. He started as an apprentice clothmaker, then decided he wanted more and studied law on his own. After becoming a lawyer, he slowly moved into politics, serving in Congress and later becoming vice president. Fillmore wasn’t loud or dramatic, but he was dependable, which helped him build influence. When President Taylor died, Fillmore suddenly found himself in charge of the whole country. His rise wasn’t based on family connections but on constant effort. It shows how determined he really was.
