Who was Millard Fillmore and what is he mostly known for?

Millard Fillmore was the 13th president of the United States, stepping in after President Zachary Taylor died in office. Most people remember him for signing the Compromise of 1850, which tried to calm things down between free and slave states. He wasn’t a flashy guy, more of a quiet and practical type who worked his way up from nothing. Even though he didn’t come from a powerful family, he still ended up in the White House through persistence. Some folks think he’s one of the more forgotten presidents, but he played a big role during a tense time in U.S. history. His decisions didn’t please everyone, but he tried to keep the country together. That’s what makes him an interesting figure today.
