Walt personally imagined, planned, and shaped Disneyland from the ground up. He wanted a park where families could relax and play together without the rough atmosphere of old amusement parks. He visited many parks to study what worked and what didn’t. Walt sketched ideas constantly and pushed engineers and artists to dream bigger. Disneyland opened in 1955 and instantly became a success. Walt continued improving it, adding new rides and lands every year. His hands-on approach is why the park still feels magical today.
