Greenland is the world’s largest island, located between the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans and politically an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. It is situated northeast of Canada and northwest of Iceland, with most of its landmass covered by a massive ice sheet. Although often thought of as a remote frozen desert, it features coastal settlements where nearly all of its people live. Nuuk is the capital and largest city, with other notable towns like Sisimiut and Ilulissat. The island’s geography includes dramatic fjords, glaciers, and icebergs, making it unique among countries in the world. Greenland’s culture reflects a blend of Inuit traditions and Danish influences, shaped by its long history of human habitation in the Arctic.
