Where is Chad located and what kind of country is it?

Chad is a large landlocked country in Central Africa bordered by Libya to the north, Sudan to the east, the Central African Republic to the south, and Niger and Nigeria to the west. It is the fifth largest country on the African continent by land area but has one of the lowest population densities. Much of northern Chad lies within the Sahara Desert, while the south transitions into savanna and grasslands. The capital and largest city is N’Djamena, situated near the western border along the Chari River. Chad’s terrain also includes Lake Chad in the west, though the lake has significantly shrunk over recent decades. The official languages are French and Arabic, reflecting its colonial history and diverse cultural influences. This location and cultural mix make Chad a key part of the Sahel region of Africa.
