Team USA will send one of the largest and most talented delegations to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, with about 140 athletes competing across all 12 sports. The American team includes big names and medal favourites such as Mikaela Shiffrin in alpine skiing, a multi-Olympic medalist aiming for more glory on the slopes. In figure skating, the U.S. squad is led by Ilia Malinin, known for his technical skill, and includes strong contenders like Alysa Liu, Amber Glenn, and Madison Chock/Evan Bates in ice dance.

In snowboarding, stars like Chloe Kim are expected to chase history as she bids for a third consecutive halfpipe gold, while riders such as Red Gerard look to race for medals in slopestyle and big air. The freestyle skiing team features standout athletes like Alex Hall, Alex Ferreira, and Jaelin Kauf, all with strong World Cup pedigrees and Olympic experience. Speed skating phenom Jordan Stolz is a major medal hope for the U.S., dominating recent world championships and capable of multiple podiums in sprint and middle distances. In biathlon, Campbell Wright has qualified and could be a contender for a historic U.S. Olympic biathlon medal, a milestone the Americans have never achieved before.

Team USA’s ice hockey squads are also drawing attention with NHL players participating for the first time since 2014, raising the chances of strong performances and possible medal runs on both the men’s and women’s sides. Overall, the U.S. enters Milano Cortina with medal hopes in alpine, skating, snowboarding, figure skating, freestyle skiing, and more, making it one of the most watched and deepest teams at the Games.
