How do you get to Pelee Island?

There are a couple of popular ways to reach Pelee Island depending on the season and your travel style. Most visitors come by ferry from the Ontario mainland (places like Leamington or Kingsville), and the trip takes about 1.5 hours — booking ahead is wise because space fills up fast. Another way to arrive is by small plane; flights run from places like Windsor, Ontario, in winter and from Ohio year-round. If you have your own boat or watercraft, you can also cruise in and dock at the island’s marina during warmer months. Some folks bring a golf cart or rent bikes once they’re there to get around easily. Because the island is surrounded by Lake Erie, water access is a big part of the travel experience and adds to the island’s charm. If you’re planning to bring a car, make sure you get ferry reservations for vehicles early — those spots go fast too.
