What is the Toyota Center in Houston?

The Toyota Center is a large indoor arena in downtown Houston, Texas, and it’s best known as the home of the NBA’s Houston Rockets. It opened back in October 2003 and has become one of the city’s premier spots for major sports, concerts and live events. The arena sits at 1510 Polk Street near the George R. Brown Convention Center and several downtown hotels, so it’s easy to combine a visit with other activities in Houston. The venue covers a huge footprint across six city blocks and has hosted everything from Rockets games to big touring shows and even special sporting events like UFC and WWE. Seating varies depending on what’s going on — up to nearly 19,000 for concerts and over 18,000 for basketball games. Over the years it’s won awards and hosted big moments, including NBA All‑Star Games and major entertainment tours. Fans and visitors alike come here whether they’re catching a game, a show or just the lively downtown atmosphere.
