No — as of the latest reports, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is not producing electricity for Ukraine’s grid. The facility lost its external grid connections multiple times during the conflict, and the damage to transmission lines means it hasn’t been able to operate normally. Instead, safety systems have to be powered by backup diesel generators, which aren’t designed for long‑term use without resupply. Engineers and experts have been trying to repair power lines under temporary ceasefires so the plant can get reliable electricity again. This effort is seen as important not just for safety but for future power restoration if the plant ever can return to operation. The IAEA has facilitated talks and some repair work, but progress is slow because of the fighting in the area. So right now, the plant is in a kind of emergency mode rather than normal operation.
