Which parts of the Great Wall are best to visit?

Some of the most popular and visitor‑friendly sections of the Great Wall are near Beijing, like Badaling, Mutianyu, Jinshanling, and Simatai. Badaling is probably the most famous because it’s well restored and easy to reach on a day trip from Beijing. Mutianyu is also popular with tourists and offers cable cars and great views without as many crowds. Jinshanling is a bit more rugged and less restored if you want a more adventurous vibe. Simatai is known for its steep and dramatic sections. Farther away, places like Jiayuguan in Gansu province mark the western ends of the Ming Wall and are great for history buffs. Each spot feels a bit different, and choosing one depends on how much hiking or crowds you want.
