The Washington Commanders of the National Football League play their home games at Northwest Stadium. The franchise has a long history that goes back to 1932. Before moving to this stadium in 1997, the team played for decades at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. Today the venue hosts all regular season and preseason home games for the Commanders. Fans pack the stadium on Sundays during the NFL season to watch the team compete in the NFC East division. The stadium also hosts team events, fan experiences, and occasional playoff games when the team qualifies. For football fans in the region, it remains the main NFL venue in the Washington area.
