Right now Notre Dame Stadium seats about 77,000 fans for football games, after the big Campus Crossroads renovation that wrapped up a few years ago. Before that, the stadium held more than 80,000 after expansions in the 1990s, but it was scaled back a bit to make room for cooler amenities and better seating. Fans still pack the place every game day, and it’s sold out regularly for decades. The seats are arranged so you feel close to the action, which is part of why it’s such a fun place to watch a game. Lots of students, alumni, and fans from around the country make it a loud, lively environment on Saturdays. The size also makes it one of the larger college football stadiums in the country, so you get that big‑game atmosphere even for regular season matchups.
