The stadium was built way back in 1930, and it replaced the old Cartier Field where Notre Dame used to play before. Construction started in 1929 and they worked super hard to get it ready for the season, with thousands of bricks and tons of steel used in the process. From the start it was designed to be a classic college football home, with sights like the famous Touchdown Jesus mural visible in the distance. Over the years, it’s been renovated and added onto, but the core of the original structure still feels historic. It’s seen almost a century of legendary games, players, and big moments. This history is a huge reason so many fans love coming back year after year.
