What happens after Artemis II?

After Artemis II, NASA plans to move forward with missions that include landing astronauts on the Moon. Artemis III is expected to attempt a lunar landing in the next phase. Later missions will aim to build a long-term human presence on the Moon. This includes space stations like Gateway and surface habitats. Artemis II helps make sure everything is ready for these bigger goals. The program is also seen as a stepping stone toward sending humans to Mars. Each mission builds on the previous one. So Artemis II is a key part of a much bigger plan for space exploration.
