What is the Unisphere monument in New York City?

The Unisphere is a giant stainless steel globe located in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, New York. It was built as the centerpiece of the 1964–1965 New York World's Fair. The monument stands about 140 feet tall and weighs hundreds of tons. It represents the theme of global unity and international cooperation. Three large orbital rings surround the globe to symbolize satellites circling the Earth. The Unisphere has become one of the most recognizable landmarks in Queens. Today, it attracts tourists, photographers, and history fans from around the world.
