The Unisphere is the largest globe sculpture in the world made of stainless steel. It was designed by landscape architect Gilmore D. Clarke. The structure survived decades of changing weather and remains a major New York landmark. During restoration projects, workers carefully preserved its original appearance. The monument was designated an official New York City landmark in the 1990s. Its detailed continents and orbit rings make it stand out from other public sculptures. Many visitors consider it one of the most unique monuments in the United States.
