Why was Spaceport America built in New Mexico?

New Mexico was chosen because it offers excellent conditions for aerospace activities. The area has low population density, wide open desert landscapes, and plenty of sunny weather throughout the year. Spaceport America also sits near White Sands Missile Range, which provides access to a huge amount of restricted airspace. This allows companies to test rockets, aircraft, and other technologies with fewer operational challenges. The location helps improve safety while reducing conflicts with commercial air traffic. New Mexico also has a long history of aerospace research and military testing. These factors made it a natural choice for a commercial spaceport.
