Genesee County is located in the central-eastern region of Michigan. The county seat of Genesee County is Flint. The overall area of the county is about 649 square miles. Formed in 1835 from parts of Lapeer County, Saginaw County and Shiawassee County, today Genesee County counts over 404 thousand inhabitants. The county is named after Seneca word, je-nis-hi-yeh, meaning beautiful valley.
