Naim Qassem is the new leader of Hezbollah

Naim Qassem, deputy of slain Hassan Nasrallah, becomes new leader of Hezbollah.
The Lebanese group Hezbollah announced that it has elected Naim Qassem as its new leader after an Israeli airstrike killed its former leader Hassan Nasrallah. This was reported by the Associated Press on October 29.The group's statement, quoted by the agency, said that the Shura Council (the main governing body of Hezbollah) elected Sheikh Naim Qassem as the new secretary general. Representatives of the group said that they will continue the policy of the slain Hassan Nasrallah "until victory is achieved."
Naim Qassem served as Hassan Nasrallah's deputy for more than 30 years.
Hassan Nasrallah led Hezbollah since 1992. He was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut on September 27. Following his death, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in October that the Israeli military had killed Nasrallah, his successor, and his successor’s successor. The IDF has only named the slain successor as Hashem Safieddine, Nasrallah’s cousin. The successor’s successor’s name has not been released.
