What is Hagia Sophia?

Hagia Sophia is an architectural masterpiece located in Istanbul, Turkey. Originally built as a cathedral in the 6th century by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I, it has served as a church, a mosque, a museum, and again as a mosque today. It is one of the world’s most iconic monuments, known for its massive dome and rich history. The building reflects the blending of Christian and Islamic cultures over the centuries.
