When was Hagia Sophia built?

Hagia Sophia was completed in 537 AD during the reign of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I. It was the third church built on the same site, after two earlier structures were destroyed by riots. Its construction was a massive undertaking and represented the peak of Byzantine architecture. For nearly 1,000 years, it was the largest church in Christendom.
