Who were the original inhabitants of Easter Island?

The original settlers of Easter Island were Polynesians, believed to have arrived around 1200 AD. They sailed across vast stretches of the Pacific Ocean in double-hulled canoes. Over centuries, they developed a unique culture centered on ancestor worship and monumental architecture. They created a writing system known as Rongo-Rongo, though it remains undeciphered. The people are called Rapa Nui, and their traditions are still honored today. Despite challenges, their culture remains resilient and proud.
