Are there any environmental concerns about the Dead Sea?

Yes, the Dead Sea faces environmental challenges due to water diversion and mineral extraction. The Jordan River, which feeds the lake, has been heavily diverted for agricultural and urban use. As a result, the Dead Sea's water level is dropping by more than one meter per year. Sinkholes are appearing along the shores due to receding waters, creating hazards. Efforts are being made to develop projects to restore water levels, such as the Red Sea–Dead Sea Canal. Conservation of the Dead Sea is critical to preserving its natural and economic value. Awareness campaigns encourage sustainable tourism and responsible use of resources.
