The Dead Sea has an average depth of around 200 meters (660 feet), with the maximum depth reaching approximately 304 meters (997 feet). Its surface lies at roughly 430 meters (1,411 feet) below sea level, making it the lowest point on Earth. The lake's depth and salinity create unique conditions for mineral deposition and water density. The shoreline has been receding over the years due to water extraction and evaporation. Despite changes in water level, the Dead Sea remains a prominent natural landmark and scientific interest. Its depth contributes to its unique floating properties.
