When was Tower Bridge built?

Tower Bridge was officially opened on June 30, 1894, after eight years of construction. It was designed by Sir Horace Jones, with engineering by Sir John Wolfe Barry. At the time of its construction, it was considered a marvel of modern engineering. The bridge was built to ease road traffic congestion while still allowing tall ships to pass. Its construction combined both functionality and Victorian Gothic architectural style.
