Can I pay with Euros or cards in Romania?

Can I pay with Euros or cards everywhere?

Nope—Romania uses the Romanian leu (RON), not Euros, even though it's in the EU. Larger cities and tourist spots often accept cards, but in small towns and markets, it’s cash all the way. ATMs are around, but in remote spots you might struggle to find one. Locals say carrying small leu notes helps with tipping or small snacks. So yeah, plan to have some cash handy.
