Most Romanians identify as Eastern Orthodox Christians—like over 80% from census data. That means churches are everywhere and pretty central to community life. But the country is officially secular and recognizes multiple religions. You’ll hear church bells ring and see folks cross themselves, especially in smaller towns. Religion is part of the culture, but you're not going to feel like you're in a theocracy.
