Lithuania is a Baltic country in northeastern Europe, tucked between Latvia up north, Belarus to the east and south, and Poland plus Russia’s Kaliningrad to the southwest. Despite its punchy history, it’s not huge—roughly the size of West Virginia—but packed with parks, forests, and lakes. It has a beautiful Baltic Sea coastline and even a UNESCO-listed sand dune spit to explore. The capital, Vilnius, and the second city, Kaunas, are just a short trip apart and super easy to visit. It’s compact, but feels surprisingly varied and adventurous.
