Yes, people swim in Lake Michigan all summer long, especially around Chicago and the beaches in Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan. The water can be super refreshing, but keep in mind it’s pretty cold early in the season. By mid-summer, some spots warm up enough for long swims and beach days. Safety is a big deal though — rip currents can form, so swimmers need to pay attention to warnings. Overall, it’s a favorite local hangout when the weather heats up.
