Does Lake Michigan ever freeze over?

It does, but not usually all the way across because it’s so massive. In really cold winters, large sections freeze near the shore and ice chunks float out in the deeper parts. It’s a wild sight — frozen waves, ice caves, and lighthouses covered in icicles. People love to take winter photos around the lake because it looks almost unreal. But it’s not safe to walk on the ice since the conditions can change fast.
