What should I try to eat and drink in Colombia?

Colombian food is hearty and super regional, so try local favorites like bandeja paisa, arepas, ajiaco, and empanadas to get a real taste of the place. Coffee is, of course, a big deal — drink it in the coffee triangle and compare it to what you get at home. Fresh fruit juices and exotic fruits are everywhere and make great cheap snacks on the go. Try regional street foods at markets for the best flavors and prices, but watch hygiene if you have a sensitive stomach. Seafood on the Caribbean and Pacific coasts is fresh and often cooked with coconut and lime. Don’t forget to pair meals with panela drinks or local beers and aguardiente if you want to try something stronger. Food is social in Colombia, so join others at mercados or small restaurants to get the full vibe.
