What kind of wildlife will I see in Botswana?

You’ll see classic African megafauna: elephants, lions, leopards, African wild dogs, buffalos, and hippos are all common in the right areas. The Okavango Delta is great for watery wildlife and birdlife, while Moremi and Chobe are famous for dense elephant populations. Botswana also has strong numbers of plains game—zebra, wildebeest, impala—and predators that follow them. If you’re lucky you’ll catch a wild dog pack in action, which is a real treat for wildlife nerds. Night drives and mokoro (canoe) trips give very different animal encounters, so try to mix activities. Guides here are usually top-notch and will help you find the best sightings. Bring binoculars and a patient attitude—sometimes the best moments happen slowly.
