The dry season, roughly May through October, is the classic choice because animals concentrate around water and are easier to spot. That’s also winter in southern Africa, so mornings and nights can be chilly while days warm up nicely. If you love birding and green scenery, the wet season from November to March brings dramatic skies and newborns on the plains. The Okavango floods peak at different times depending on the year, so timing can vary by region. Camps and lodges fill up fast in peak months, so book early if you want a top spot. Mosquitoes and some roads are worse in rainy months, but the photography and fewer tourists can make it worth it. Ultimately pick based on whether you want big game viewing, baby animals, or dramatic landscape photos.
