Equatorial Guinea has three official languages: Spanish, French, and Portuguese. Spanish is the most widely spoken and used in government, schools, and media. French is common because of the country’s ties with neighboring countries, and Portuguese was added to strengthen regional relations. Many locals also speak indigenous languages like Fang or Bubi. English is not widely used, but it’s slowly growing in popularity. Most people are multilingual, switching between languages easily. The country’s mix of languages makes it one of the most linguistically unique in Africa.
