In Eswatini, formerly known as Swaziland, the official languages are Swati (or siSwati) and English. Swati is spoken by nearly everyone and is used in daily communication and cultural life. English is used in schools, government, and business. Many people easily switch between the two languages depending on the setting. In rural areas, you might also hear Zulu or other regional dialects. English-speaking travelers usually have no trouble communicating. The language mix highlights Eswatini’s balance between tradition and modernity.
