The official language in Honduras is Spanish. It’s used in schools, government, and everyday communication across the country. In addition to Spanish, there are several Indigenous languages such as Garifuna, Miskito, and Pech spoken in some regions. English is also used on the Bay Islands and in tourist areas. Most Hondurans are bilingual or multilingual depending on where they live. Spanish is easy to get by with if you’re visiting. The variety of languages adds depth to Honduras’s cultural and historical richness.
