The official language in Kuwait is Arabic. Kuwaiti Arabic, a local dialect, is spoken in daily life, while Modern Standard Arabic is used in schools and formal situations. English is widely spoken, especially in business and among younger people. Many expatriates also bring their own languages, making the country quite multilingual. Signs and menus in cities are often written in both Arabic and English. Learning a few Arabic greetings can go a long way when interacting with locals. The language scene in Kuwait reflects both tradition and modern global influence.
