The official languages in Morocco are Arabic and Amazigh (Berber). Modern Standard Arabic is used in schools, government, and media, while Moroccan Arabic (Darija) is spoken in everyday life. Amazigh is spoken by many communities, especially in rural and mountain areas. French is also very common and serves as a second language for business and higher education. In some northern regions, people speak Spanish, and English is becoming more popular with young people. Many Moroccans are multilingual, switching easily between Arabic, French, and Amazigh. The country’s mix of languages shows its deep cultural and historical influences.
