The official language of Myanmar is Burmese. It’s the main language used in schools, government, and daily life across the country. There are also more than 100 minority languages spoken by different ethnic groups, such as Shan, Karen, and Chin. English is widely taught in schools and used in business and tourism. In rural areas, people often speak their native language at home and Burmese in public. The Burmese script has its own unique alphabet and tone system. The country’s language diversity highlights its complex cultural makeup.
