The official language of Oman is Arabic. It’s used in schools, government, and everyday communication. English is widely spoken, especially in business, tourism, and among younger people. In addition, you’ll hear several regional and immigrant languages, such as Swahili, Baluchi, and Urdu, due to Oman’s trade history. Many Omanis are bilingual, easily switching between Arabic and English. Road signs and official documents are often written in both languages. The country’s language mix reflects its long-standing connections with Africa, India, and the Arab world.
