The official language of Serbia is Serbian. It’s spoken by nearly everyone and uses both Cyrillic and Latin alphabets. In some regions, Hungarian, Slovak, and Romanian are also spoken. English is widely understood among younger generations and in tourist areas. Serbian has a rich literary tradition and expressive sound. Most Serbians are bilingual or multilingual, switching between Serbian and other regional or foreign languages. The language reflects the country’s cultural heritage and Slavic roots.
