The official language of the Netherlands is Dutch. It’s spoken by nearly everyone and used in all aspects of life, from education to business. In the northern province of Friesland, Frisian is also an official language and taught in schools. English is widely spoken and understood throughout the country, making communication easy for visitors. Many Dutch people also know German and French. The Netherlands is known for its strong multilingual culture. This openness to languages reflects the country’s global outlook and international trade history.
