What was Elton John’s early life like?

Elton grew up in Middlesex, England, in a house where music was loved but not always encouraged as a career. His dad wanted him to take a safer path, but his mom played records nonstop. Elton got into the Royal Academy of Music when he was just 11, and even though he dropped out later, the piano training stayed with him. He played in pubs and small bands before forming a songwriting team with Bernie Taupin. That partnership turned out to be a life-changer. Their first big hit, “Your Song,” showed the world what they could do. From there, things blew up fast.
