How do you get to Governors Island?

The only way to get to Governors Island is by ferry. Ferries run from Lower Manhattan at the Battery Maritime Building. There are also seasonal ferries from Brooklyn. The ride usually takes about 8 minutes. Ferries run more often during weekends and summer months. Tickets are affordable, and some morning rides are free. Bikes are allowed on certain ferries.
